  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Lingard offered himself to West Ham and underwent training with his former club where he hoped to impress David Moyes. However, things did not fall in place and the London club refrained from extending a contract offer to the ex-England international. Subsequently, he was in talks for a potential move to Saudi Arabia, having trained with Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq, but, negotiations reportedly collapsed due to disagreements over wage terms.

  • WHAT LINGARD SAID ABOUT HIS FUTURE

Lingard posted a series of photos from his individual training sessions and captioned: "Even the hardest days will eventually pass. We only do positive 🙏🏾✨" A few days back he had posted another round of photos with a caption that read: "Positivity & Progress ✨"

  • WHAT NEXT FOR LINGARD?

Lingard's future hangs in the air after the failed Saudi talks. However, the forward will hope that the winter transfer window will bring some positive news as teams across Europe and the Middle East will be looking to plug in the gaps in their squad ahead of the business end of the 2023-24 campaign.
