‘Have the balls to say it to my face!’ - Fabio Grosso’s explosive Lyon exit revealed as Italian manager demanded players ask chairman John Textor for his sacking - just two months after being appointed

Grosso's tenure as the head coach of Olympique Lyonnais came to an abrupt end on Thursday morning after just seven games at the helm, making it the shortest managerial stint in the club's history. He took over in mid-September from Laurent Blanc but managed to secure only one victory which has left the team languishing at the bottom of Ligue 1 standings.

Reports suggest that Grosso struggled to win over the dressing room throughout his brief tenure. Moreover, he developed bad blood with key players like Alexandre Lacazette and Rayan Cherki were dropped, further weakening his position in the dressing room.

Earlier in October, an unnamed player criticized Grosso as "one of the worst managers he had ever had," prompting the coach to investigate the source of the leak. He became so obsessed with finding the player that he cancelled a training session and focused on finding the culprit.

On Monday morning, things got bitter again which forced Grosso to vent out his frustrations on the squad.

“If you think it’s me, go and see (John) Textor and tell him to fire me, but have the balls to say it to my face first," he shouted according to L’Equipe.

"Personally, I think it’s our fault, as a collective, but if you don’t agree, go and tell Textor. I just ask you that you tell me first."

After Grosso's departure, Pierre Sage will take over the reins as an interim head coach. His support staff will comprise Jeremie Brechet, Jean-Francois Vulliez and Remy Vercoutre. Their first assignment will be against Lens on Saturday in Ligue 1.
