England interim boss Lee Carsley facing raft of injury problems - including captain Harry Kane - as Three Lions gear up for Greece & Finland Nations League clashes

The prolific striker, who became an international centurion when winning his 100th cap in September, was forced out of Bayern Munich’s latest Bundesliga fixture. Vincent Kompany told reporters after that contest: “It’s still too early to say what Kane has. We hope it’s nothing serious.”

A similar message was delivered by Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo after he saw Morgan Gibbs-White hobble out of the Reds’ 1-1 draw at Chelsea. He said: “We are worried about him. Hopefully, it is nothing and he can join up with the England squad. But he will have a scan. It is important that it is nothing serious and that he can join them and play. But we also need him. Hopefully, it is not too serious.”

Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke were also replaced by the hosts in that match at Stamford Bridge, leading to questions of their fitness. Elsewhere, Ezri Konsa had to be replaced during Aston Villa’s goalless draw with Manchester United.

Harry Maguire may have been a contender to replace Konsa in Carsley’s plans, but the Red Devils defender – who was left out of England’s latest squad – left Villa Park in a protective boot after being helped from the field by medical staff.

England, who collected two wins under Carsley at the start of their latest Nations League campaign, are set to face Greece at Wembley Stadium on Thursday. They will then travel to Helsinki for a meeting with Finland three days later.
