Cristiano Ronaldo's Premier League return ruled out because it's too 'demanding' for 40-year-old as GOAT warned this could be his final season in football

A move has been speculated on for 2025, after running down his contract in the Middle East, with various clubs competing at the FIFA Club World Cup being linked with the Portuguese GOAT. While such a switch was considered, Ronaldo is not expected to return to England.

That is the opinion of former Chelsea star Geremi, who - speaking to BoyleSports, who offer the latest FIFA Club World Cup betting odds - said of what comes next for the all-time great: "What Cristiano Ronaldo is doing at his age is exceptional, but his time in the Premier League is over. The Premier League is too demanding, he is 40 years old and it wouldn’t be the same as doing it once in a while in international games.

"I think he’s going into his last year in football and I can’t see him spending that in the Premier League, it’s too competitive and a lot more demanding than he has been used to in the last two years."

Ronaldo appears set to sign fresh terms at Al-Nassr, having mulled over his options, with at least one more season in Saudi Arabia taking him through to the 2026 World Cup finals.
