  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Gallagher and Kennedy are embarking on a new life together in Spain after the England international was forced to leave boyhood club Chelsea. The Blues have seen several incomings and outgoings in the transfer window and Gallagher was deemed an unwanted asset in their attempts to balance the books and trim Enzo Maresca's squad.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

If Gallagher was made to feel unloved by Chelsea, Atletico Madrid certainly left him feeling wanted with an elaborate unveiling ceremony at the Metropolitano Stadium last week. But the 24-year-old doesn't hold any grudges over the way he was treated at Stamford Bridge, saying in a farewell post on social media: "I wish the club all the best for the future, and I hope to see you all soon at Stamford Bridge."

  • WHAT GALLAGHER'S PARTNER SAID

Kennedy wrote on Instagram: "Our little family on our next adventure together. 'Home isn’t a place, It’s a feeling.' Thank you for all the lovely messages of love and support. We are so excited to live in Spain and be part of Atletico Madrid."
