    The Morocco international went for an outing in Berlin on Saturday night and visited a bar where he was brutally attacked and physically assaulted. The 25-year-old suffered facial injuries and was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery on Sunday, as confirmed by his club.

  • WHAT THE CLUB SAID

    The official statement from Hertha read, "We were horrified to learn yesterday that Aymen Barkok was physically attacked in a Berlin bar during the night from Saturday to Sunday and had to be taken to hospital with facial injuries.

    "Aymen had a successful operation yesterday, Sunday, but will not be available to us for the time being. We wish you a speedy recovery, Aymen! We are thinking of you."

    BARKOK'S CAREER SO FAR

    Born in Frankfurt, Barkok graduated from Eintracht's academy before making his senior debut for the club in 2016. In 2022, he joined fellow Bundesliga side Mainz before being transferred to Hertha on loan during the January transfer window.
