Maguire put in a commanding performance in United's 3-0 first-leg win at Athletic Club on Thursday, with fans saying his display was Brazil-esque. WHAT MAGUIRE SAID

He told TNT Sports after the game: "Brilliant... I'm sure there's a few nicknames out there for me. But the win was more important."

He went on to add: "The tie is not done...I'm sure Old Trafford will be like this place [for the second leg]. It was nice to do a bit of dribbling out there [that led to the first goal]. They must have trusted me to put in the cross."

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

United have had a wretched season but it could yet, somewhat, be salvaged if they win the Europa League - which would ensure their passage into next term's Champions League. The Red Devils deservedly beat the Spanish side in their own backyard and now are on the brink of another European final. And Maguire played a big part in that.
