  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Hamann, who played for Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Manchester City, hailed Harry Kane for his contribution to his team who are not playing well as a unit this season. The England international recently equalled Luca Toni's 17-year-old club record of scoring 24 Bundesliga goals in his maiden season and is now on his way to breaking Robert Lewandowski's 41 league goals record in a single campaign.

  • WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

Speaking to talkSPORT, the former Germany international said, "They’re not playing well but it just goes to show how good he is. He probably touches the ball 20, or 25 times and he probably scores with every third or fourth touch. He’s settled and he’s a breath of fresh air. To have the England captain in Germany is a huge thing and he’s so humble and so likable. I think for the club and the league it’s been a blessing to have him."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 30-year-old left Tottenham Hotspur to join the reigning Bundesliga champions in pursuit of trophies, although his maiden season in Germany started on a rocky note as Bayern lost in the DFL Super Cup final to RB Leipzig and were then ousted from the DFB Pokal in the second round. They are currently two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen and have reached the round of 16 of the Champions League.
