  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The departure of the Rotterdam-bound Lufthansa charter flight was originally scheduled for 5:20 pm but eventually took off at 6:20. The plane had to be de-iced under the freezing weather conditions in Munich for several minutes which led to the delay. The security check of the players, including England captain Harry Kane, at the VIP gate also took longer than expected, according to BILD.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The flight finally landed in Rotterdam at 7:35 pm. The hour delay meant manager Vincent Kompany and star player Jamal Musiala could not fulfil their media commitments as the pre-match press conference at Feyenoord Stadium was scheduled for 7:45 pm. Upon reaching the airport, Kompany and Musiala were driven in a shuttle van and the media interaction finally happened at 8:23 pm.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Musiala did not start in the Bavarian side's last three Bundesliga games due to flu but the German star is expected to feature in Kompany's starting lineup in the Champions League clash against Feyenoord.
