He was, however, to be saved as Bournemouth goalkeeper Kepa came to his rescue. Haaland looked confident enough as he stepped up, but saw an effort that was drilled towards the bottom corner acrobatically kept out. Adams was able to breath a serious sigh of relief.

With Bournemouth daring to dream that it could be their day, with a semi-final date at Wembley up for grabs, the Cherries went on to break the deadlock themselves in the 21st minute as Evanilson bundled home from the goal line after Justin Kluivert diverted the ball across the face and beyond Ederson.
