Alisha Lehmann explains why she went from dating Swiss team-mate to Douglas Luiz & reveals how historic double transfer to Juventus for ex-Aston Villa stars came about

Swiss forward Lehmann rekindled her relationship with Brazilian midfielder Luiz in late 2023. They had previously dated in 2021, having both found themselves on the books at Aston Villa – as they competed in the WSL and Premier League respectively.

Lehmann has, however, also coupled up with Switzerland colleague Ramona Bachmann – with her personal life often attracting more attention than professional endeavours. The 26-year-old has grown accustomed to operating under that spotlight.

She has told Marca of her love life, which has seen her settle down with South American star Luiz: “It's 2025. I think everyone can date whoever they want and be with whoever they want. It's important to open your mind and stop seeing this as a problem and instead see it as progress. Be who you are and who you want to be. Love is love. It's simple.”

Lehmann moved to Italy alongside Luiz in the summer of 2024, as they completed a historic couples transfer. Quizzed on how those moves came about, Lehmann said: “I don't know who convinced whom, it just happened.”

Luiz has found the going tough at times in Serie A, leading to him being linked with a move back to England, but Lehmann has flourished – with a healthy haul of goals being recorded for a team that is chasing down domestic title glory.
