Besides Jude Bellingham and Endrick ruled out due to injury, Antonio Rudiger's six-game domestic ban from last season carries over here.
Federico Valverde, Ferland Mendy and Eduardo Camavinga are also struggling to prove their fitness, so Alonso may need to bank on Dani Ceballos despite the midfielder being linked with a departure.
At the same time, Franco Mastantuono, Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras are all eying their La Liga debuts.
With Rodrygo's future uncertain, Brahim Diaz could get the nod alongside Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior up front.

Ruben Garcia and Iker Benito will need once-overs ahead of kick-off, but Valentin Rosier and Victor Munoz are in line for their club debuts. Munoz Los Rojillos joined from Real Madrid in the summer.
