Commentary

That is all for tonight folks, thanks for joining us. Goodbye!
If this match had taken place in a few weeks' time, we might have seen a different outcome. Aubameyang had several chances to score, only for Bernardo to thwart him on each and every occasion. Sterling was the pick of the bunch, but further opportunities fell to Mount and Ziyech, who were not at the races this evening. Salzburg will be delighted with their point on the road, and it will be up to Chelsea to get revenge when they meet again in October.
Potter's Champions League debut ends in a draw, and he will have learnt plenty from that performance this evening. The Blues appeared to be in total control once they opened the scoring, but Potter learnt just how competitive the competition is. Sterling's curling finish put his team in front, which was no less than they deserved. But like they have done all season, Chelsea struggled to see off their opponents, and Okafor ruined Potter's welcome party with 15 minutes to go.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME - CHELSEA 1-1 SALZBURG.
90' + 3' SAVE! Ziyech is denied by Kohn for a third time as the Salzburg keeper stayed big before the Chelsea forward blasted his shot down his throat.
90' + 2' SO CLOSE! Broja comes within inches of making himself the hero, but his right-footed volley flies the crossbar from inside the box. Chelsea's latest attack fell to the former Southampton loanee, but he failed to keep his shot under control.
90' Four minutes of stoppage time to come!
N. Capaldo
Yellow Card
Salzburg
89' Now Capaldo joins the list of players booked, and he can have no complaints after a strong challenge on Cucurella.
88' Ziyech forces another save out of Kohn, but this is far more straightforward as the winger's header was weak at the far post.
S. Koïta
N. Okafor
Salzburg
85' Salzburg goalscorer Okafor gets a rest, with Koita on for the final few minutes.
C. Pulišić
R. Sterling
Chelsea
84' Sterling's night is over, with Potter giving Pulisic the chance to impress!
84' Chelsea's fans are urging them to come forward, but they are struggling to compose themselves in the final third. At least 10 minutes left including stoppage time!
83' CHANCE! Ziyech nearly made an immediate impact from the bench, but he watched on as Kohn saved his near-post flick. Superb goalkeeping from the Salzburg stopper to deny Chelsea.
H. Ziyech
César Azpilicueta
Chelsea
81' A change in system for Chelsea as Azpilicueta returns to bench to be replaced by Ziyech.
C. Gallagher
M. Kovačić
Chelsea
81' Potter tries to freshen up his midfield, with Gallagher on for Kovacic.
R. James
Yellow Card
Chelsea
79' James shows his frustration by needlessly pushing Gourna-Douath and is rightly shown a yellow card.
79' OVER! Chelsea nearly double their advantage from the resulting free-kick, but James shoots over the crossbar from Cucurella's lay-off.
A. Ulmer
Yellow Card
Salzburg
78' Salzburg skipper Ulmer is also carded after protesting against James' actions.
S. Pavlović
Yellow Card
Salzburg
77' Pavlovic is shown the first yellow card of the night after fouling Loftus-Cheek on the edge of the penalty area.
J. Adamu
Yellow Card
Salzburg
76' Adamu is also carded for his protests!
J. Adamu
Assist
Salzburg
75' Adamu has only been on the pitch for a few minutes, but he made an immediate impact with that pass into the box.
N. Okafor
Goal
Salzburg
75' GOAAAALLL - CHELSEA 1-1 SALZBURG - From nowhere, Okafor draws the visitors level. Salzburg's attack down the right-hand side looked to be coming to nothing, but Silva's poor challenge gave Adamu the chance to pounce. He composed himself before teeing up Okafor, who slotted home past Kepa. GAME ON!
73' CHANCE! Salzburg could have been level, but Kameri's header was unable to trouble Kepa. The Chelsea keeper barely had to move as Kameri's effort fell straight into his lap from close range.
D. Kameri
L. Sučić
Salzburg
70' Kameri will also get the chance to impress as he replaces Sucic.
J. Adamu
B. Šeško
Salzburg
70' Matthias Jaissle now turns to his bench, with Sesko off for Adamu.
69' Even though Kovacic was in a good position, the referee stops the game due to a head injury to Broja. The physios will now get to work to try and help him!
A. Broja
P. Aubameyang
Chelsea
66' Aubameyang's night is also over, with Broja on in his place.
R. Loftus-Cheek
K. Havertz
Chelsea
66' Potter makes a change in midfield as Loftus-Cheek replaces Havertz.
65' CHANCE! Havertz miskicks the ball and wastes a half-decent opportunity to test Kohn. The Croatian did well to stay onside, but he failed to connect with the ball from just outside the six yards box.
64' After a relentless effort, Chelsea's players may be feeling the pace. Their control of midfield seems to be slipping by each passing minute, and it looks like Potter has got a few players lined up from the bench.
62' Sterling now has 250 goal involvements in all competitions in his senior club career (158 goals, 92 assists).
58' After a chaotic start to the second half, we have had our first lull in proceedings. It could be time for Potter to turn to his bench as he tries to turn the screw on Salzburg.
55' Bernardo stops Aubameyang for a third time as he throws himself in front of another shot, but the offside flag goes up anyway to deny the Chelsea man.
54' Potter is Sterling's sixth manager of his club career, and the first he has scored in his first appearance under.
52' Whatever Potter said to his players at half-time worked perfectly, and he will want them to seal the deal as soon as possible by grabbing a second.
P. Aubameyang
Assist
Chelsea
48' Aubameyang will get the assist, but that is rather fortunate, as he seemed to miss the ball more than anything. Still, the touch turned the ball into the path of Sterling, so the Gabon international did something right.
R. Sterling
Goal
Chelsea
48' GOAAAALLL - CHELSEA 1-0 SALZBURG - Chelsea finally get their breakthrough, and it is Sterling that fires home from inside the penalty area. England boss Gareth Southgate will be delighted with the goal as James, Mount and Sterling all played their part. The right-back started the move before playing Mount in down the line. His cross was intended for Aubameyang, but once the former Arsenal man missed it, Sterling reacted in style. He took one touch before curling the ball past Kohn!
46' We are back underway at Stamford Bridge!
L. Gourna-Douath
M. Kjærgaard
Salzburg
46' A change for Salzburg at the break as Kjærgaard is replaced by Gourna-Douath.
Salzburg are playing like they have come to London for a share of the points, but it would be good to see them show more ambition. Should Chelsea score, their plan will then be out of the window for the rest of the match.
Despite dominating the majority of the first 45 minutes, Chelsea have nothing to show for it at the interval. Potter's Champions League debut got off to a good start, but he will want more from his team in the final third. Aubameyang, Sterling and Havertz started well, but it was Mount who had the best opportunity, but he could only shoot wide from the edge of the box. Sesko ensured Kepa still had something to do with a low drive, but both teams can certainly do more with the ball in the second half.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 0-0 SALZBURG.
45' + 2' CLOSE! Kovacic is the latest Chelsea player to appeal for a penalty, but replays suggest his header hit the hand of Bernardo rather than the Salzburg player moving his arm towards the ball. That should be the final chance of the first half!
45' + 1' Three minutes of stoppage time to come at Stamford Bridge!
45' Chelsea's latest chance comes to nothing as Sterling goes to ground inside the box, but the officials are not interested in his penalty appeals.
41' SAVE! After doing nothing all evening, Kepa is called into action as he tips Sesko's shot wide of the goal. The Salzburg striker turned on the edge of the box before aiming his shot towards the bottom corner, but Kepa was on hand to keep it goalless.
40' WIDE! Mount finally get his moment to shine, but he curls his shot wide of the far post. Salzburg managed to clear Cucurella's cross towards the edge of the box, but Mount failed to make them pay.
38' While it is disappointing to have not seen a goal so far, it appears to be the norm across Europe so far. Only two of the late KO's have a goal, with Juventus leading Benfica, while it is 1-1 between Maccabi Haifa and Paris Saint-Germain.
36' Still plenty of confusion around Stamford Bridge as the game gets back underway, and we may get more stoppage time as a result in west London. That stoppage may work against Chelsea as well!
33' Referee Ivan Kruzliak has halted the game as he seems to have a communication issue.
30' Potter will be pleased with his first 30 minutes as a Champions League manager, but he may need to change things to get the best out of Mount. While Havertz, Sterling and Aubameyang have seen plenty of the ball, the academy product has struggled to get invovled.
28' Salzburg have yet to offer anything in attack, but they have managed to halt Chelsea's dominance in the last few minutes. Let's see if they can keep it up.
25' No player has had more shots than Aubameyang so far, and even though he has missed with all three of his efforts, Potter will be delighted with his output.
24' BLOCK! Pavlovic comes to the rescue for Salzburg. The towering centre-back raced across the box to block Aubameyang's shot, and the former Arsenal man is struggling to break free from his markers.
21' A slight injury worry for Chelsea is over for now, with Azpilicueta the one to go down. The Spaniard appeared to complain of a stray arm to the face, but he is back on his feet and did not need any treatment.
18' Chelsea have taken control of matters here, but they still have not registered a shot on target inside the first 20 minutes.
16' Just to keep you in the loop with matters elsewhere in Group E, Milan beat Salzburg 3-1 earlier this evening thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Alexis Saelemaekers and Tommaso Pobega.
14' Both Cucurella and James should see lots of the ball in the final third in Potter's systems, but the latter has yet to exploit any space behind the Salzburg defence.
12' CHANCE! Havertz is unlucky not to score as he watches his header from a Cucurella free-kick take a deflection. The former Brighton man picked out the German on the penalty spot, but Havertz's goalbound header took a deflection before it could reach Kohn's goal.
10' There is no need to get excited as Salzburg clear Mount's corner at the first attempt, and it remains 0-0.
9' Chelsea win a corner as Bernardo blocks Aubameyang's volley from inside the penalty area.
7' Even though tonight's fixture is Potter's first in the Champions League, his side have started on the front foot. They will feel they should be beating a team of Salzburg's stature, and they are trying to put them in their place from the outset.
5' Potter's side look bang up for the fight inside the early stages, and they are flying into challenges and putting pressure on the Salzburg defence as soon as possible.
4' OVER! Aubameyang wastes his first chance of the night as he blazes his volley over the crossbar. Havert's deflected effort fell into his path, but the Gabon international failed to trouble Kohn in the Salzburg goal.
1' We are underway at Stamford Bridge!
The two teams are out on the pitch, and kick-off is moments away. There will be a minute's silence beforehand, though, in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
Tonight's tie will be the first meeting between the two clubs. Salzburg have never beaten an English side in European competition in six attempts.
Potter makes three changes from the side that lost to Zagreb as Cucurella, Silva, and Jorginho come in for Chilwell, Fofana and Koulibaly. Sucic returns for Salzburg, and he will slot into the attack behind Sesko and Okafor.

Potter will hope to bring the best out of his team after three defeats in their last five matches, while Salzburg are unbeaten in seven, winning six of those ties.
Last week's 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb was the final straw for new Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly, as Thomas Tuchel was sacked within 24 hours. Chelsea moved quickly to tie down Potter, but the former Brighton boss could have his work cut out against Salzburg, who drew 1-1 with Milan last time out in Europe.
Good evening and welcome to our live coverage of the clash between Chelsea and Salzburg in the Champions League. Tonight's Group E tie is the first of Graham Potter's career at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues will hope to hit the ground running in front of their own supporters.
