Griezmann has long made it clear that he wants to play in MLS before hanging up his boots. And he dropped another hint that his career might be heading that way, claiming that Atletico Madrid will likely be his last club in Europe.

    WHAT GRIEZMANN SAID

Speaking after Atleti's win over Lazio in the Champions League, Griezmann addressed his future: "I want this to be my last club in Europe, and then to enjoy elsewhere."

But he also admitted that he would be open to staying in Madrid: "I want to continue here. I’m at the level that my team needs of me. I’m playing well. Let’s see if there’s a chance to continue, but of course, there are lots of other players here, so we’ll see."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Griezmann has repeatedly insisted in the past that his desire remains to finish his career in MLS. He told GOAL in August that he would willingly spurn massive financial offers in Saudi Arabia to finish his career in the United States.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR GRIEZMANN?

This doesn't appear to be an imminent decision for Griezmann. The France international's current contract expires in 2026, at which point he will be 35 years old. Until then, he will likely be a key player for Atleti.
