FC Cincinnati welcome Chivas Guadalajara on Thursday night in a high-stakes finale to their Leagues Cup 2025 Phase One campaign, with a quarterfinal ticket hanging in the balance.
The Orange & Blue kicked things off in style with a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Monterrey, but they couldn’t ride that momentum into their next match. A 2-2 stalemate against Juárez was followed by a narrow 4-3 loss in penalties, leaving them with work to do if they want to progress.
As for Chivas Guadalajara, they've yet to win a match outright in this summer's Leagues Cup but they're not out of the picture just yet. After a disappointing 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Matchday 1, where Emil Forsberg netted a late winner in stoppage time, they bounced back with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Charlotte FC, following a 2-2 draw in regulation.

Team news & squads
FC Cincinnati team news
One man who's been electric for Cincy is Evander, and his red-hot form hasn’t cooled in Leagues Cup action. The Brazilian playmaker has been at the heart of nearly everything Cincinnati's created, notching two goals and two assists through two matches. He was instrumental in the win over Monterrey, going toe-to-toe with Sergio Canales and coming out on top. His long-range rocket also sparked a second-half comeback against Juarez, though Cincy ultimately fell short in the shootout.
With Kevin Denkey still easing his way back to full strength, Sergio Santos or Kei Kamara will likely be called on to lead the front line. Expect Dado Valenzuela and Luca Orellano to stretch the field and cause problems from the flanks in what's shaping up to be a do-or-die clash.
Chivas team news
Richy Ledezma and Bryan González got on the scoresheet in that one, while Jose Rangel emerged as the hero between the sticks in the shootout, helping Chivas stave off elimination and keep their hopes alive.
Despite only having two points from two matches, the Liga MX giants come into this match with a bit of wind in their sails. And for a club with Chivas' pedigree, never count them out when the stakes are high.
