Chelsea continue to contend with a lengthy injury list, as Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Liam Delap, Dario Essugo, Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana remain sidelined. Meanwhile, Mykhaylo Mudryk is still unavailable while serving his doping ban.

Adding to their concerns, Maresca confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Andrey Santos are all carrying knocks and will need late fitness checks.

Benfica team news

Benfica also have problems of their own, with Manu Silva and Alexander Bah both recovering from ACL injuries. Winger Bruma faces a lengthy spell out, with his ruptured Achilles potentially keeping him sidelined until 2026.

The Portuguese side’s attacking depth has been further reduced by the absence of 19-year-old Gianluca Prestianni, who is away on international duty with Argentina at the Under-20 World Cup in Chile.
