Will Arsenal FINALLY sign a new striker? Mikel Arteta addresses likelihood of much-needed transfer after Kai Havertz disasterclass & another Gabriel Jesus injury in damning FA Cup exit to Man Utd

The Gunners are considered to have been in need of a proven No.9 for some time, with the lack of a prolific frontman contributing to their near misses in back-to-back Premier League title challenges. Familiar questions remain at Emirates Stadium in the 2024-25 campaign.

German forward Kai Havertz is often asked to lead the line for Arsenal, as an alternative to Brazil international Gabriel Jesus, but he endured another outing to forget when missing several chances and failing from the spot during the FA Cup third-round defeat to Manchester United.

Said performance - along with another untimely injury for Jesus - has generated more debate regarding Arsenal’s supposed lack of firepower, but Arteta says big calls on the recruitment front lie out of his hands.

Arteta told reporters when being quizzed again on efforts to get another striker onto his books: “We missed from various ways, from different players. I understand you guys asking. I cannot love our players more. I focus very much on the ones that we have to perform at the highest level, that’s it. The rest is not in our hands, my hands.”

Arsenal are reported to lack the funds required to bring in a player such as Newcastle star Alexander Isak, as they adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations, and that means that they may have to wait until the summer – when more sales can be sanctioned – before splashing the cash on another important piece of a trophy-chasing jigsaw.
