Wayne Rooney enjoying ‘boozy nights & takeaways’ without wife Coleen – with Man Utd legend accused of putting on weight & ‘getting stuck into the pasties’ after becoming Plymouth boss

The Manchester United icon inherited the managerial reins at Home Park over the summer, as he returned to coaching on the back of a disastrous 83-day stint in charge of Birmingham. A move to Devon has seen Rooney separated from his partner and four sons – as they live 260 miles away in Cheshire.

Rooney is said to be living a “pseudo bachelor lifestyle” on the south coast, with the 39-year-old becoming a regular at local drinking venues. One customer near to Rooney’s waterfront apartment has told the Daily Mail: “He comes in quite often for a few drinks. He’s definitely put on some weight since he’s been down here, maybe he’s getting stuck into the pasties.”

Coleen is said to be “concerned” about Wayne’s lifestyle, with another source telling the Mail: “Coleen’s told him no more takeaways, so she’s sorting out meal plans as well as making sure he’s busy when he’s not at work.” Rooney’s wife was reportedly given a “shock” when paying a visit to her husband and getting a close look at his dietary habits.

Rooney is, however, enjoying filling time away from family life. Another bar customer told the Mail: “I last saw him a few weeks back but I think he comes in quite often for a few drinks. I heard he’s come in for the quiz before too but I’m not sure how well he did. Judging by the number of selfies posted on Facebook groups he’s going out to bars a lot.”

Coleen is now 10,000 miles away from Wayne after entering the Australian jungle on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Plymouth will be back in action on Friday when playing host to Watford, with their manager looking to inspire with his words, rather than actions.
