The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has grown accustomed to having the name of eternal rival Lionel Messi sung at him by rival supporters. He has not always reacted favourably to those chants, with angry responses delivered while representing Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo has, however, learned that playing along is the best course of action. Rather than allow distractions off the field to potentially disrupt his input on it, CR7 is happy to encourage those in the stands and use their dissenting voices as added motivation.

That was the case during his latest appearance, as cap No.220 was earned for Portugal. Ronaldo donned the captain's armband for his country in that contest, with the evergreen 40-year-old remaining a talismanic presence.

During one break in proceedings, Ronaldo responded to those bellowing "Messi" in his direction. He pretended to dance along to the tune of the chant, as he moved his arms in time to the beat.

Ronaldo, as has been the case on countless occasions during his career, went on to have the last laugh as he netted another match-winning goal. His 137th strike for Portugal helped to seal a 2-1 win and book a place in the 2025 UEFA Nations League final.
