Roma challenge Juventus to Brazil full-back Wesley after new coach Gian Piero Gasperini pushed Atalanta to sign him

Head coach Gasperini's priority at Roma is to build upon the current squad, and, as per Calciomercato, the Italian have identified Flamengo right-back Wesley as a priority signing for the Giallorossi. The 21-year-old has been on Gasperini's radar since his days at Atalanta.

Wesley has played a prominent role in the Flamengo squad, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2022 and was later also named in the 2024 Brasileiro Serie A Team of the Year. With Wesley, the Roma coach plans to add more technical ability and drive on the wings, a key position in the Europa League winner's tactics. However, Juventus are also looking to bring Wesley to Turin and believe their former Brazilian stars Danilo and Alex Sandro can influence the player to join Igor Tudor's side.

Gasperini has taken charge of Roma after a nine-year spell at Atalanta. He was chosen by Ranieri, now working as an advisor to the club, and the Roma owners, with the new boss aiming to get the capital club back in the Champions League.
