Revealed: Why Michael Olise opted to join Harry Kane and Vincent Kompany at Bayern Munich instead of sealing Chelsea transfer

According to The Telegraph, the primary reason why the Crystal Palace star picked the Bavarian club over the Blues was the temptation to play in the Champions League next season. The winger met the club officials and new manager Vincent Kompany where he was briefed about the Belgian's vision for the team. He reportedly did not opt to move to Germany for financial reasons but was attracted to the rich history of the Bundesliga giants.

Along with the West London side, Manchester United were also keen on securing the 22-year-old's signature as they look to bolster their attack ahead of the 2024-25 season. However, Olise is now on the verge of finalising his move to Bayern as Kompany's side are looking to reach an agreement with the Eagles soon.

Despite missing a chunk of the 2023-24 campaign due to a hamstring injury, Olise performed consistently for the English side in all the 19 appearances he made for them in the league. He netted 10 times and contributed with six assists.

After missing out on signing their primary attacking target, the Blues are now reportedly eyeing a move for Athletic Club winger and Spain international Nico Williams.
