Revealed: Man Utd determined to force Marcus Rashford out of the club as part of ‘cultural reboot’ under Ruben Amorim & Sir Jim Ratcliffe - with January transfer 'ideal'

England international Rashford was, alongside fellow forward Alejandro Garnacho, left out of Ruben Amorim’s squad for a 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City. The Red Devils boss said of that decision: “It is important the performance in training, the performance in games, the way you dress, the way you eat, the way you engage with your team-mates, the way you push your team-mates.”

Rashford is considered to be falling short of the required standard, as he scratches around for form once again, and The Guardian claims that he is now being put up for sale. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS co-ownership group insist that there can be “no passengers” in another rebuild at Old Trafford.

Sporting director Dan Ashworth has already been relieved of his duties, with Rashford seemingly next to head for the exits. Amorin is said to be on board with the decision to part with the 27-year-old attacker – who has seven goals to his name this season – in order to “engineer a shift in culture throughout the club”.

The general consensus is that, since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, too many players have been allowed to coast at Old Trafford and are not held accountable for their actions – with a succession of coaches paying the price for inconsistency on the field.

Ratcliffe believes previous bosses have not been given the support they need in order to deliver change, with the plan being to reverse that trend. Rashford will now be made available in the winter window, although his £365,000-a-week contract means that only a select group of clubs could afford to buy him.
