Redemption for Brenden Aaronson! USMNT replace two injured stars in CONCACAF Nations League squad as Haji Wright steps in for Josh Sargent

In-form Coventry striker Haji Wright – fresh from his FA Cup heroics against Wolves – has also been added to Gregg Berhalter’s ranks as fellow Championship frontman Josh Sargent drops out. The Norwich striker is nursing another knock.

The United States have revealed that Celta Vigo midfielder De La Torre has picked up a “right quadriceps strain”, while Sargent – who has matched his personal best for goals scored this season – is struggling with “right ankle irritation”.

Aaronson, who is spending the season on loan at Union Berlin after suffering relegation out of the Premier League with Leeds in 2023, will be determined to make the most of his second chance. He has found form domestically of late, having endured a tough start to the current campaign.

Wright, meanwhile, has reached 15 goals for the season at Coventry and, as he readies himself for a trip to Wembley with Coventry, will be desperate to get his hands on a first major international honour as the USMNT prepare to face Jamaica in the Nations League semi-finals on Thursday.
