'Thousand million points behind!' - Pep Guardiola still furious with Man City season despite reaching third FA Cup final in a row as he congratulates Liverpool on Premier League title

City comfortably beat Forest 2-0 at Wembley to book their place in a third successive FA Cup final, becoming only the sixth club to do so. But the coach was still far from satisfied with his side's campaign, as Liverpool officially took the Premier League title off his side by hammering Tottenham 5-1 on Sunday.

City are 21 points behind Liverpool with four games left and are due to finish the campaign with their lowest total since Guardiola became coach in 2016. They also failed to reach the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time since 2012, being hammered 6-3 by Real Madrid in the knockout play-offs after coming 22nd out of 36 teams, winning three games in total.

"Noooooooo. This season has not been good," Guardiola told a press conference. "We are a thousand million points behind Liverpool. it's not good. Look at the Champions League. We won one game? Two games? We were always a machine and we have not good but the damage will be minor. it is not going to confuse that the season has been good. The club have to take the right decisions so next season will be better.

Guardiola began his own press conference to pay tribute to Liverpool for winning the title. He said: "Before i start, on behalf of myself and all the club we want to congratulate Liverpool Football Club for their Premier League victory. Well deserved, no doubts about that. A fantastic team. During one year, like it happened the last four years, they're going to retain the title and hopefully next season we can be better to compete until the end that this season was not possible. So congratulations to Liverpool."

City will face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on May 17 aiming to win the trophy for an eighth time and a third time under Guardiola. But first they will be concentrating on hosting Wolves on Friday and keeping on track their bid to secure a top-five finish in the Premier League to qualify for the Champions League.
