No return for Erik ten Hag: Ex-Man Utd boss ruled out of the running for Borussia Dortmund job after Nuri Sahin sacking

Dortmund dismissed Sahin on Wednesday after just over six months in the role. Ex-United manager Ten Hag was linked with the German giants but Fabrizio Romano has now poured cold water on such rumours.

Ten Hag has been looking for work ever since getting relieved of his duties at United last October. The ex-Ajax boss has a close relationship Dortmund's chief advisor, Matthias Sammer, which may have been behind his recent visits to the club. Now the hunt for a new Dortmund boss really begins.

Under former player Sahin, Dortmund lost their last four games in a row in all competitions, sit 10th in the Bundesliga, and are in danger of failing to secure Champions League qualification next season.

While Dortmund search for a new coach, the Bundesliga team host Werder Bremen in the league on Saturday as they look to get back on track.
