Per L'Equipe, any potential deal to take Zidane to Germany faces significant hurdles, despite the former Real Madrid boss being heavily linked with the soon-to-be vacant post at the Allianz Arena. Bayern are said to be closing in on a deal to hire Zidane but he holds significant reservations; namely, he would like to join United.

Erik ten Hag is under significant pressure at Old Trafford and European football is not guaranteed for the club; they are currently seventh in the Premier League, but mathematically could still finish as low as 13th. As such, Zidane is said to be monitoring the situation at Old Trafford very closely.

Zidane is one of the most successful managers of the modern era, winning the Champions League three seasons in a row for Real, as well as lifting La Liga twice and the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup twice. However, he has only ever managed Real.

It remains to be seen if Zidane will be willing to enter into a deal with Bayern before the end of the season if he is monitoring developments at United. Waiting until the summer for the Frenchman may well be a better move.
