    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Reports have linked Walker with a potential transfer to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, where the defender could reportedly earn a staggering £400,000 per week. Despite this, sources close to the couple suggest Kilner’s change of heart is unrelated to the financial windfall such a move would bring. However, one must note that, previously, Kilner was said to be seeking half of Walker’s £27 million fortune during their divorce negotiations. Nonetheless, the renewed family discussions have led to speculation that the couple may be working towards reconciliation rather than separation.

  • WHAT KILNER HAS BEEN TOLD

Lizzie Cundy, who was previously married to footballer Jason, weighed in on Kilner’s decision, advising against staying in the relationship for financial reasons. Cundy, who has seen many high-profile footballer marriages falter, warned Kilner, in her column for The Sunand wrote: "As someone who has seen many footballer's marriages end in divorce, or limp along miserably for years, you should never stay for money, it should always be for love. Trying to make a family work because of the financial stability at stake won’t work.

"But I think in Annie’s case she's finished divorce talks for the sake of her family. She was very hurt by what he did and wanted to take control of the matter, to scare him a bit, to say: “Look, you can't treat me like this,’ and she was right to do that."

    WHAT NEXT FOR WALKER?

While Walker’s personal life garners headlines, his professional career faces its own uncertainties. The veteran defender was notably left out of Manchester City’s squad for their FA Cup third-round clash with Salford City. With reports suggesting City are actively pursuing defensive reinforcements, and have been linked with moves for Abdukodir Khusanov of Lens and Vitor Reis of Palmeiras, Walker’s role in Pep Guardiola’s plans may diminish further.
