Harry Kane hits 100! England captain to start against Finland and receive special golden cap before kick-off to celebrate landmark appearance

Kane, who now plays his club football in Germany for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, made his Three Lions debut against Lithuania in March 2015 – scoring within 80 seconds of stepping off the bench in that contest. He has gone on to become captain of his country.

Kane has skippered England on 72 occasions – with only Billy Wright and Bobby Moore taking the armband on more occasions – and is poised to make Finland the 45th different opponent that he has faced in a distinguished international career that includes World Cup and European Championship Golden Boots.

Nobody can claim to have bettered Kane’s haul of 66 goals for the Three Lions and the Football Association has confirmed that he will be presented with a commemorative cap ahead of his latest appearance – as he becomes England’s 10th centurion, and their first since Wayne Rooney in 2014.

The other records that Kane boasts include more competitive appearances for England than any other player (83) and most games played at major finals (28). He joins Peter Shilton, Rooney, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Moore, Ashley Cole, Sir Bobby Charlton, Lampard and Wright in reaching 100 appearances.
