Eric Dier named 'one of the best team-mates I've ever had' by Bayern co-star Joshua Kimmich as German midfielder stunned by Englishman's commitment

While Kimmich is a regular starter and a pivotal figure in Bayern’s midfield, Dier has struggled for game time under coach Vincent Kompany. The English defender has only made six appearances across all competitions this season, with his sole start coming in the DFB-Pokal victory against Mainz, where Bayern secured a comfortable 4-0 win.

In total, Dier has played just 141 minutes this campaign, with his last outing dating back to early November in a 3-0 victory over Union Berlin. Despite this limited role, Dier’s professionalism has not wavered and he continues to be a role model for his team-mates.

"When I see how Eric Dier trains every day - he's one of the best team-mates I've ever had," Kimmich told reporters after his team's win against Augsburg, in which Dier remained as an unused substitute.

"Even though he hasn't played many minutes, he is incredibly important for us as a team. This kind of mindset also helps us as a team. If you call him at six o'clock tonight and tell him to come to training, he'll be there and give 100 per cent. It is extremely valuable for us that no one slacks off and falls behind, but that the competition is kept high."

Dier's dedication to the team has not gone unnoticed, and his positive influence off the pitch could become a key factor as Bayern navigates a busy stretch of the season. However, his contract with Bayern is set to expire in just over six months and he has been linked with a move to Juventus in the January transfer window.
