Cristiano Ronaldo isn't done: Al-Nassr striker retains place in Portugal squad despite underwhelming Euro 2024 performances

Ronaldo, at the age of 39, has been included in Portugal's squad as they prepare for Nations League games against Croatia and Scotland. His inclusion comes on the back of a disappointing European Championship in which the Al-Nassr star failed to score a goal, as Roberto Martinez's side lost to France on penalties in the quarter-finals.

Ronaldo is still Portugal's captain and is in line to win his 213th cap for his country. He has scored 130 goals during that time, and will be out to add to that tally as the campaign begins. Ronaldo is reportedly determined to play at the 2026 World Cup, so his continued selection is perhaps little surprise.

Along with Ronaldo, Martinez has an embarrassment of attacking riches to pick from; Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, Diogo Jota, Rafael Leao, and Pedro Goncalves are all available. It remains to be seen who will be selected, however.

The Saudi Pro League has taken a break for the upcoming international break so Ronaldo will next be in action against Croatia on September 5.
