The 28-year-old midfielder saw his previous deal with the Toffees expire at the end of the 2023-24 campaign. He had taken in just 13 appearances for them since moving to Merseyside in the January transfer window of 2022.

That deal saw no money paid up front, with Spurs loading the agreement with bonus-related payments. None of those targets were met, but the north London outfit would still have been due a fee if Dele can convince Everton to hand him fresh terms.

He is training with Sean Dyche’s squad after undergoing another operation in January. He is in line for a new deal, with it reported that Tottenham are prepared to sacrifice a “significant” sum of money. They are willing to do all they can to help a player that made 269 appearances for them get his career back on track.

Spurs are, however, eager to ensure that they stand to benefit from any rekindling of a professional spark by Dele. According to football.london, additional payments will be due if certain objectives are met, while a sell-on clause will also be inserted in any new contract at Goodison Park.
