Bayern Munich prepare surprise new role for ageing Harry Kane as Arsenal handed blow in transfer race for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko

England captain Kane has been a prolific presence across his two seasons at the Allianz Arena, with back-to-back Golden Boots being secured in the German top-flight. In total, the superstar striker has hit 82 goals through 91 appearances.

Kane is, however, preparing to turn 32 on July 28. Bayern are aware of the need to find a long-term replacement, with efforts being made to ensure that they are not left scrambling around for a new No.9 when the day comes for Kane to move on.

According to Bild, Bayern have joined the hunt for RB Leipzig star Sesko. He is said to come with a £75 million ($102m) price tag and has also emerged as a top target for Premier League heavyweights Arsenal - another side in need of a proven goal-getter to lead their line.

Bayern’s plan is to snap up Sesko while moving Kane into a No.10 role. He does have a tendency to drop deep in search of the ball and could thrive as a playmaker as less pressure is lumped onto his shoulders when it comes to delivering end product.

Bild do, however, acknowledge that Arsenal "hold the upper hand" in pursuit of Slovenia international Sesko - with Kane and Co currently in the United States as Bayern prepare to open their quest for FIFA Club World Cup glory against Auckland City.
