Arsenal fans protest against Jonas Eidevall with graffiti message outside Emirates Stadium

The Gunners slipped four points behind Women's Super League leaders Chelsea on Saturday with a deserved loss at home. A sprinkling of boos met the Blues' second goal and after this defeat, many will believe Eidevall's time with the club should come to an end. It then emerged that someone had written 'Jonas out' on a wall near the stadium.

The Swede is now in his fourth season in charge of Arsenal but this term it seems like they are going backwards after a tough week that included the Chelsea loss, a Bayern Munich thumping, and a drab draw with Everton. Many feel with the squad they have, the north London team should be playing better. If results don't improve soon, Eidevall - who has led Arsenal to two straight League Cup trophies - could be heading for the exit.

After the Chelsea loss, the Gunners boss said: "I gave absolutely everything today in preparation for this game. You can see the players gave absolutely everything on the pitch. That's the part you can control as a coach. It's just focusing on the next match and I just need to focus on the things I can control."

He added: "They [the fans] should see the players and how incredibly hard they work. How much heart they have, how much character they have for the club. That, I hope, gives supporters belief. I fully understand that people are disappointed when we don't win football matches and we are also really disappointed. We are really hurting, I'm hurting, the players are hurting. We want to do that better so I fully understand that in that moment. Just as you're allowed to show emotions when we win, you're allowed to show emotions when we lose. They invest everything. I totally understand their frustration when we don't win football matches."

Arsenal, who sit sixth in the WSL after picking up five points from four matches, return to Champions League action on Wednesday at home to Valerenga before travelling to London neighbours West Ham next Sunday.
