Africa - Managing Editor

Biography: I studied journalism at Rhodes University and began my career writing features for a variety of entertainment magazines. I soon moved from print to digital and began focusing on sports when I joined the Perform Group in 2014. After covering such diverse sports stories as the Oscar Pistorius trial and aeroplanes full of cash heading to the Ghana men's national team at the Brazil World Cup, I began to focus exclusively on football and GOAL.

My Football Story: I'm a lifelong Spurs fan who found himself a long way from Tottenham. I once dreamed of winning the Ballon d'Or as a goalkeeper but discovered I was better at stringing sentences together than I was at world-class saves.

Areas of Expertise:

  • PSL (South African domestic league)
  • Tottenham Hotspur
  • African continental competitions at club and international level

Favourite football memory: The one thing I desperately wanted to achieve as a goalkeeper was to score a goal. In my second-last match before retiring, on a windy, freezing Joburg winter pitch I launched the ball long and one bounce off that rock hard pitch and it looped over their keeper and in! I am not ashamed to admit I celebrated more than if I'd scored a winner in the World Cup final.

The alarm bells are ringing louder than ever at Naturena as Amakhosi's season is spiralling out of control after a dismal 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Natal Rich Boyz on Tuesday evening. The former Amakhosi centre-back is in a race against time to recover from a knee injury and be fit for the global football tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Failure to recover fully would force South Africa’s coach Hugo Broos to rethink his defensive plans ahead of the global showpiece. It would mean searching for a replacement for the player he trusted during the 2025 AFCON finals.

  3. Bafana's World Cup kit revealed

  4. 'I am Mokwena, not Guardiola' - Rhulani hits back at critics

The South African coach has come out swinging against his detractors following a frustrating period for MC Alger. 2. Cardoso hits out at the 'misinformation' surrounding Saleng's fitness

The 27-year-old last played a competitive football match in November 2025 while on loan at Orbit College from Orlando Pirates. Now, as February draws to a close, rumours have started swirling about why the winger has yet to make an appearance in a match day squad at Masandawana.

  3. Ben Youssef on latest Stellies defeat - 'You have to finish, you have to dominate, you have to kill'

It was the same old story for Amakhosi as they fell to their third straight defeat at the hands of the Winelands club. They dominated possession and chances created, especially in the first half, but failed to take their opportunities before letting their opponents score twice from their three shots on target. Afterwards, the Glamour Boys co-coach faced the media repeating the same old message of missed chances to blame for another damaging defeat.

  4. Lucas Ribeiro's Spanish dream turns sour as coach fired

Now, in the aftermath of the defeat and with the Derby just days away, Innocent Chikoya has slammed the fans who targeted the 27-year-old and reminded them that the attacker was their last-minute penalty hero against Amakhosi just a year ago.
