Both looking to shake off opening-day setbacks, Azerbaijanand Ukrainesquare off in a World Cup qualifier at the Tofiq Bahramov Stadium in Baku on Tuesday evening.
For Azerbaijan, the campaign could hardly have started worse. Fernando Santos’ men were humbled 5-0 in Reykjavik on Friday night, leaving them rooted to the bottom of Group D after just one match. With little time to lick their wounds, the hosts must quickly regroup before welcoming Ukraine.
It wasn’t smooth sailing for Serhiy Rebrov’s side either. Ukraine slipped to a 2-0 defeat against tournament favourites France, a result that underlined the importance of their upcoming games with Iceland and Azerbaijan if they are to mount a serious push for qualification.

Team news & squads
Azerbaijan team news
Santos is expected to tweak his lineup after Friday's nightmare, though he'll once again be without experienced defender Badavi Huseynov through injury. On a brighter note, highly rated youngster Nəriman Axundzade could be one to watch as Azerbaijan search for positives.
Ukraine team news
Ukraine, meanwhile, are also managing injury concerns. Vitalii Mykolenko left the squad before the France clash, meaning Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely to continue deputising at left-back. Up front, the in-form Artem Dovbyk, with 11 goals in 37 caps, remains their biggest attacking weapon and a player capable of turning the tide in Baku.
