Norwich City v Sunderland Betting: Canaries to swoop on unsuspecting Black Cats

Both Norwich City and Sunderland are looking for their first win of the Championship season ahead of this weekend's meeting between the sides at Carrow Road.

The Canaries claimed a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage in their opening league game of the campaign, while Sunderland were held to a 1-1 draw against Derby County in their Championship curtain-raiser at Stadium of Light on Friday night.

Norwich were relegated from the Premier League in 2016, while the Black Cats suffered a similar fate last term and, so, both teams will be desperate to find a path back to the top tier of English football during the current campaign.

These two teams enjoyed narrow victories in League Cup action in midweek. The Canaries claimed a thrilling 3-2 win against Swindon Town on Tuesday, while Sunderland were 1-0 winners against Bury on Thursday evening.

Norwich can be backed at 10/11 (1.91) with bet365 to enjoy a home victory, while Simon Grayson's side are chalked up as a 3/1 (4.0) chance to claim their first league win of the season. There is 5/2 (3.50) that the teams are, again, forced to settle for a share of the spoils from Sunday's showdown.

Both of these sides will view this as an eminently winnable fixture and, so, there is plenty of potential for the goals to flow when the rivalry is renewed. There is 19/20 (1.95) that there are more than two goals scored in this game, with 4/5 (1.80) that there are goals at both ends.

The Canaries have found the net in each of their last 16 fixtures and Daniel Farke's side will surely fancy their chances of further improving upon that impressive record here, for the Black Cats are far from solid at the back.

Grayson's men have kept just two clean sheets in their last 13 outings - and their final pre-season friendly saw the Wearsiders suffer a humiliating 5-0 home defeat at the hands of Scottish champions, Celtic.

Norwich, therefore, are decent value at 10/11 (1.91) to score more than one goal when these teams meet at Carrow Road, while 3/1 (4.0) is available that the Canaries notch more than two goals against the Black Cats.

Better value, however, could lie in simply siding with Farke's men to make home advantage count and it is the 10/11 (1.91) quote for the Canaries to come out on top that may represent best value for punters ahead of Sunday's Championship clash.
