Utah Jazz vs LA Clippers Team News & Key Performers

Utah Jazz

For Utah, this season is less about chasing wins and more about building the future. Coming off a tough 17–65 campaign, the Jazz are embracing the rebuild while adding a few steady veterans to guide their young nucleus. Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler, and Kyle Filipowski headline a group brimming with potential.

Markkanen — who posted 19 points and nearly six rebounds per game last year — continues to draw trade buzz, while Filipowski, the reigning NBA 2K26 Summer League MVP, looks poised for a breakout campaign after a promising rookie year.

The Jazz also brought in a pair of promising rookies — fifth overall pick Ace Bailey and No. 18 selection Walter Clayton Jr. — as part of their long-term vision. Meanwhile, veterans like Kyle Anderson, Jusuf Nurkić, and Georges Niang bring leadership and grit to a side that struggled mightily on defense last season.

LA Clippers

After another postseason disappointment, the Clippers once again retooled in their ongoing quest for a deeper playoff run. The front office brought in Bradley Beal, Brook Lopez, Chris Paul, and John Collins to join James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, forming one of the most experienced and offensively versatile lineups in the league.

Harden, who averaged over 22 points and eight assists last year, remains the orchestrator of the offense, while a fully fit Leonard could be the key to unlocking the Clippers’ championship potential. Despite finishing fifth in defensive rating last season, inconsistency on the offensive end often held them back.

The new additions should help correct that imbalance — Beal and Paul add perimeter shooting and ball distribution, and Lopez's floor-spacing ability gives Leonard and Harden more freedom to attack. Head coach Tyronn Lue now commands a deep, experienced squad capable of switching defensively across all positions. If their core can avoid the injury bug, Los Angeles could easily find itself among the Western Conference’s elite once again.
