Wrexham target Man Utd academy graduate son of Wales legend - with Charlie Savage added to Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney's transfer wish list

The 22-year-old midfielder made just one competitive appearance for the Red Devils, as a late substitute in a Champions League clash with Young Boys in December 2021. He picked up useful experience during a loan spell at Forest Green Rovers, before joining Reading in 2023.

Savage lined up against Wrexham in the 2024-25 campaign, as the Red Dragons claimed a runners-up finish in League One and a historic third successive promotion. The Royals star registered seven goals and 13 assists through 51 appearances in all competitions.

According to the Wrexham Insider, Savage is now registering on the recruitment radar at SToK Racecourse. His father - who represented the likes of Leicester, Birmingham, Blackburn and Derby in his playing days - is a Wrexham native that earned 39 caps for Wales.

Charlie Savage has also become a senior international and may be offered the chance to head for North Wales this summer. His wage packet should not be an issue for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who are reportedly willing to offer Fulham captain Tom Cairney £50,000-a-week when he hits free agency.

Wrexham are also being linked with another Wales international in the form of Tom Lawrence, who is seeing his contract at Scottish giants Rangers run down. He is also a product of Manchester United’s youth system and boasts useful EFL experience.
