Wrexham captain James McClean aims brutal dig at Shrewsbury after promotion to Championship as Red Dragons' rivals are relegated to League Two

Wrexham's 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Saturday ensured Phil Parkinson's men were promoted to the Championship, whereas rivals Shrewsbury dropped into League Two. Following the Welsh side's triumph, veteran McClean called Shrewsbury's Toto Nsiala, who was involved in a heated clash when the two teams played against each other back in January, a "numpty" and to "enjoy" being in the division below.

He posted an old clip from Shrewsbury's win over Wrexham and wrote: "Toto, I don't think we are in League One no more. Enjoy celebrating tackles in League Two, it's good craic numpty. Be the bigger man... never."

Wrexham's rise from the National League to the Championship in the space of three short years is nothing short of remarkable. The Red Dragons have become the first team to secure three straight promotions in the history of the English Football League and now they have their sights on the Premier League.

Wrexham, who sit second in the table, round off their season away to Lincoln City next Saturday.
