‘Worst in the world?’ - Andre Onana ‘not happy’ with error-strewn start to life at Man Utd following £48m transfer

The Cameroon international was included in the Champions League Team of the Season in 2022-23 after helping former employers Inter to a final showdown with Manchester City. His exploits in Italy earned him a £48 million ($61m) transfer to Old Trafford.

Onana has endured an error-strewn start to life in English football, leading to questions being asked of his future a matter of months into a five-year contract, but the 27-year-old has vowed to put things right and win over those that have been quick to write him off.

Onana has told Sky Sports when offering an honest assessment of his efforts for the Red Devils: “If I have to speak about my season so far for Manchester United, I am not happy because I know I can do much much better, I've done it and I know I will do it better than what is happening now. We are not facing a good moment. I hope things will change as soon as possible. But listen, you want to tell me in six months the best goalkeeper in the Champions League last season can become the worst in the world? Nah. Everything is temporary. I know it'll be alright. If not today, it will be tomorrow, if not tomorrow, the day after tomorrow.”

United have been struggling for consistency as a collective, leading to them slipping adrift of the Premier League’s top four and out of the Champions League at the group stage. Onana will be hoping to avoid any more unfortunate headlines when Erik ten Hag’s side take in a testing trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
