The Magpies were scheduled to travel on Tuesday to take on League Two side AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday in a Carabao Cup third-round clash at the Cherry Red Records Stadium. However, the match, which was supposed to kick off at 7:45 pm BST, has now been postponed due to the poor condition of the venue.

THE EXPLANATION
Due to overnight torrential downpours, the Cherry Red Records Stadium saw extensive flooding. A sinkhole was spotted near the touchline on Monday while walkways were completely flooded. Under such circumstances, it was impossible to conduct the game in just a day.
WHAT NEWCASTLE SAID
The official statement from the Premier League side read, "Newcastle United's Carabao Cup third-round tie at AFC Wimbledon has been postponed following extensive overnight flooding at the Cherry Red Records Stadium."
