Watch out world, Mohamed Salah can get even better! Jurgen Klopp says 198-goal Liverpool star ‘can improve’

The 31-year-old forward, who is fondly known as the ‘Egyptian King’ at Anfield, has been a talismanic presence throughout his time on Merseyside. Salah has three Premier League Golden Boots to his name, two PFA Player of the Year awards, a Premier League title, Champions League crown, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.

Salah has broken the 30-goal barrier in four of his six full seasons at Liverpool, while having 12 efforts to his name this term, but Klopp says he can get even better. The Reds boss has told reporters of his talismanic winger: “Of course he can improve. We expect that from him. Why would he be first in the building and last out if he didn't want to improve? But he has gained experience over the years that he knows much more about the game. Completely different to when he arrived here. He is really good with his team-mates, and the forward players. He is pretty special. Long may it continue.”

There have been suggestions that Salah could soon be moving on, as he attracts interest from the Saudi Pro League, but he is looking to form a devastating partnership with Darwin Nunez for now – with the African ace admitting to looking for his Uruguayan colleague whenever possible. Klopp added on that combination: “You can't become a Liverpool player if you're not football-smart. Darwin and Mo look for each other but it's not like they cut out the other boys. It's just a different way of playing. Mo supports the boys. Darwin came here, big expectations, and Mo probably understood the situation best and saw his potential and wanted to help him. Without having the longest conversation, that was for sure the start of a pretty special partnership.”

Nunez is still searching for consistency in his second season with Liverpool, with seven goals recorded in 2023-24, and Klopp will be hoping to see him fire alongside Salah on Saturday when the Reds take in a testing trip to Premier League leaders Manchester City.
