Vinicius is seen as a major transfer target for the Saudi Pro League, who are hoping to attract more high-profile players to the Middle East. The Brazil international has a contract with Real Madrid which runs until 2027 but it is thought extension talks have stalled in recent months, with the 25-year-old wanting to be made Los Blancos' best paid player.

According to AS, a five-year deal for Vinicius worth €1 billion (£866.7m/$1.1bn) has been taken off the table for now, though the interest could pick up again in the future. It's believed negotiations between the winger and Real Madrid will resume in 2026, with Vinicius previously declaring he intends to stay at the club to further cement his legacy at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have acknowledged Vinicius' elevated standing in the playing squad by adding him to their captaincy group. Dani Carvajal will take the skipper's armband following the departure of Luka Modric, with Federico Valverde his deputy. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is third in the pecking order, with Vinicius fourth in line.

Real Madrid will want to seal a contract for Vinicius soon to avoid further speculation building up over his future. They don't have any pre-season games after their involvement at the Club World Cup, with their first La Liga match of the 2025-26 coming at home against Osasuna in just under a month.
