Argentina had already booked their spot at World Cup 2026 before kick-off against Brazil thanks to Bolivia's draw against Uruguay. However, Lionel Scaloni's side still went on to enjoy a comfortable victory over the Selecao in any case to finish the current round of fixtures eight points clear at the top of the CONMEBOL standings. Ecuador sit in second place above Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay and Colombia. The top six teams qualify automatically for the finals in North America, Mexico and Canada.
