USWNT star Olivia Moultrie sets another NWSL record after setting up Portland Thorns consolation goal in Orlando Pride defeat

Despite Portland Thorns losing 2-1 away at league leaders Orlando Pride on Saturday, 18-year-old Moultrie beautifully set up Izzy D'Aquila's consolation strike to register her 10th assist in all competitions. That made her the youngest player in NWSL history to reach that total.

The attacking midfielder has been breaking records for many years now. She is the youngest American women's soccer player to turn professional, something she did at age 13 in 2019. Two years later she became the youngest player to sign a contract with an NWSL team, by joining Portland. And in 2022, the Utah-born player became the youngest footballer to score in the NWSL. Moreover, she is seen as the next big thing for the United States women's national soccer team.

In 2023, when she was 18, Moultrie received her first call-up to the U.S. senior squad and earned her first cap against China last December. Moultrie has since gone onto win four caps for her country and was part of the squad that won the CONCACAF Gold Cup this year.

Moultrie will next be in Portland action on June 8 when they host North Carolina Courage in the NWSL. The Thorns sit fourth in the table, whereas North Carolina are four points back in seventh.
