VIDEO: Trent gets away with one! Ex-Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold sees Real Madrid debut mistake go unpunished as Al-Hilal goal is ruled out in Club World Cup opener
The ex-Liverpool full-back made his much-awaited Madrid debut on Wednesday in the Club World Cup as the Spanish giants squared off against Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal. In the 19th minute of the game, Al-Hilal got their first major chance to break the deadlock as Alexander-Arnold gave the ball away and Renan Lodi found himself inside the Madrid box to find the back of the net. Lodi entered the box unmarked as Alexander-Arnold was caught napping, but fortunately for the Englishman, the goal was disallowed for offside.
Gonzalo Garcia finally broke the deadlock just minutes after the half-hour mark, but Ruben Neves soon restored parity from the penalty spot. Al-Hilal earned the spot-kick in the 40th minute after Raul Asencio brought down Marcos Leonardo inside the area.
