  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Boehly took over Chelsea in May of 2022 and the club have since spent over £1 billion ($1.26bn) on the likes of Enzo Fernandez, for over £100m ($126m), Cole Palmer, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Moises Caicedo. Not every signing has worked out, with the Blues currently seventh in the Premier League table, but Boehly has insisted the west Londoners are merely building for the future.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chelsea have hit some form in recent weeks under Mauricio Pochettino, going on a four-game unbeaten run to give themselves a chance of European football at the end of the season, and Boehly insists the Blues will reap the rewards from their spending provided they are patient.

  • WHAT BOEHLY SAID

Per Fabrizio Romano, Boehly said: “We are not spending the money, we are investing the money. When we are spending, we are investing and those players continue to hold their value. I argue the investments made at Chelsea have held their value."

He added: “We’ve got to be patient. Since Boxing Day, we are the fourth best team in the Premier League. When you look at what is going on now, it feels better and better”
