  • THE GOSSIP

West Ham star Bowen has become a reluctant dance partner for his new bride, with the England international prepared to admit that he is not one to throw shapes with any kind of style. He will be doing his best to avoid stepping onto imaginary dance floors.

  • WHAT BOWEN SAID

Hammers captain Bowen told the Ironcast podcast of Dyer taking to the Strictly stage, with a support pledge being made: “It was in the pipeline a couple of months ago. The rumours then start coming out and I was under strict instructions - don't tell anyone. People were asking me and I had to say I don't know. I'm a bad liar!

“I'm sure my weekends after a game will be to go over and watch her. She's already had her first day not long ago and asked if we could do the dances together. But these hips aren't like those professionals. I said she can have her dance and I'll just come and watch.”

    DID YOU KNOW?

Dyer added on what to expect from Dyer, who now has an iconic Glitterball Trophy in her sights: “She's always one of those that deep down is competitive. At the start she just wants to do it and not go out in the first week. But deep down she'll be wanting to do well. And I'm going to be pushing her the whole way because I know she's got that inner drive.

“I've only ever seen her [dance] after a few tequilas. I'm not sure if she can dance! It's not like I'm spinning her round at home or anything - I don't know! I'm not doing the Tango at home. I think she'll be good though, I think when she puts her mind to it she'll love it.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Bowen has his own professional issues to contend with at present, with West Ham having stumbled out of the blocks in 2025-26 to sit bottom of the Premier League table after two fixtures. They will be back in action on Tuesday when facing Wolves in the Carabao Cup.
