The Magpies have struggled to replicate those heroics in 2023-24, leading to suggestions that a change in the dugout could be made.

He has seen a return to England speculated on, and Newcastle could provide the funds and ambition that allow the charismatic Portuguese to thrive in the Premier League once more.

    Newcastle have been told to consider such a move, with prominent pundit Richard Keys saying of the need for something new on Tyneside: “What’s happened to the Geordie revolution? There are no guarantees of a trophy in football - unless you employ him.”
