Sir Jim Ratcliffe puts end to chauffeur-driven private cars for Man Utd staff as INEOS look to curb extravagant spending

The new United hierarchy believe that cutting back on unnecessary expenses is fundamental to transforming the culture of the club and, after acquiring their 27.7 per cent stake in United, hired Interpath Advisory to conduct a report into the club's expenses. The Times reports that the preliminary findings of the report has advised the cancellation of all private cars for administrative staff.

Interpath Advisory has been tasked with highlighting any excessive off-the-pitch costs that can be streamlined. This includes looking at suppliers, utilities and travel, as well as other business and operational costs. The group will not be advising on which players to sell to raise cash, but rather other areas where they can save money in order to free up more funds for player signings.

Upon his arrival in Manchester, Ratcliffe appeared to offer fans hope that the club would undergo major transformation. He said: "We have to make sure that the right people end up in the right positions. Every person in management has to be world-class."

By appointing Interpath Advisory to conduct the report, Ratcliffe is on his way to establishing what areas of the club can become more aligned with his 'world-class' vision.

United sit in sixth place and appear far off the pace required to qualify for next season's Champions League. They face league leaders Liverpool on Sunday hoping to avoid yet another embarrassment at the hands of their rivals.
